Re: 1 more reason to like TX

Jackass is my new favorite insult. I was just looking for an excuse to use it.

And please, don't take any of this personally. There are lots of states i don't like (Idaho, New Jersey, and especially California)

I'm amused that you, whoever you are, would still go so far as to say that you are better than me. Is proving your dominance over others an important activity to you? I'm just curious. I'd like to think that it's not - not for you, and not for anyone.

I personally don't like arguing. I'm a pacifist and a born arbitrator. I find myself trying to solve other peoples' disputes, so me arguing with you about this is a refreshing change of pace.

So feel free to go on thinking you're right. You don't have to be right all the time, or have to be sure that you're right before you get into a discussion about something. What's the worst that could happen - your opinion gets changed?

Look, obviously, anything I say probably won't make you start hating Texas, just as anything you might say won't change my opinion about Washington. I'm not apologizing for any of my statements...just know that I spend very little time dwelling on what i don't like about Texas. I know it's not all bad there. It's just an easy target, and the aforementioned sterotypes help to make it that way. The Northwest was (and probably still is) a foreign wilderness as far as the rest of the country was/is concerned - until Microsoft, Starbucks, and Nirvana started doing their respective things. I can relate to the whole being defensive about the hometown thing. 10 years ago, my cousins in New York were asking me if we had bears coming up to our doorsteps...they were shocked to hear that we had problems with traffic, gangs, drugs, et cetera. They thought we were hicks or mountain men, basically.

Hell, if there were some sort of Rennaisance that began in Texas that revolutionized modern thinking, I'd be all for it. Maybe you can be the one who starts it.

Another thing: are you absolutely sure that everything is bigger in Texas? I mean, we got some big ass mofos up here...maybe it's all the fat we have to pack on for those -40 degree temperatures...
