Long time no see...
Nov. 18th, 2002 01:19 pmOK. So I moved to Greenwood. I now live in what was once probably a swinging space-age batchelor pad circa 1965. Well, maybe not "batchelor", as it's actually a mother-in-law unit in the backyard of a house. The ceilings are low through half of it (I have to crouch a little in the shower, and even to get into the bathroom. It's got orange shag carpet (which has turned to burnt umber with the years), and that sparkly textured crap on the ceiling. It came partially furnished, which is sorta nice seeing as how I got rid of most of my furniture the last time I moved. It also came with all utilities included in the rent, plus cable and a washer and dryer.
And spiders.
I found a huge one in the shower as I was getting out of the shower. Eeek.
Even though I'm not that far away from anything, psychologically it feels far away. It only takes me four minutes to walk to the grocery store, but I have to walk through blocks of houses in various states of disrepair, and corner markets that stock more MD 20/20 and Thunderbird than juice or milk. There aren't really any sidewalks, which for a pedestrian, can be hazardous, especially at night. But that's ok. I'll deal.
