So I guess Caffe Minnie's finally croaked.

I'm actually a little surprised that it's lasted this long.

Edit: I guess that I mostly surprised that it closed due to back taxes owed, and not because of what seemed like ample health code violations. The Broadway Minnie's was a shitty but dependable beacon in the night. The downtown one was, for as long as I can remember, just shitty, even 10 years ago. Everyone has horror stories about that place. In any event, I'm glad that it existed, but I'm not shedding any tears over its demise.

My least favorite of the 24-hour joints. Still, it was a 24-hour joint. Not like that matters to me now that I'm an old fuck.

I haven't been to Minnie's in a long time but I seem to recall the one on Broadway not having French fries, just breakfast-type potatoes, and that always annoyed me. When I'm drunk I want French fries. If they had put fries in their business plan perhaps they would still be open.

That place gave me really bad food poisoning a few years ago. Which was sort of my fault, since we walked in and my boyfriend-at-the-time said, "man, this place smells like vomit," but we decided to eat there anyway.

So I'm not sad to see it go, myself.

i hated the downtown minnie's.

broadway on the other hand was like a second home for me for my first two years of college. i was so sad to see that place go, rats and all. few things compare to a steaming bowl of tomato basil soup at 3am after rehearsing with a scene partner for six hours.

I hated that place. Even though there are a lot of memories, it was still a big bunch of crapola.

Oddly enough though, I was there for the first time in 6-7 years 2 weekends ago. So I got to see it at the end.

Good riddance! I'm completely surprised they lasted this long. God, I hate that place!

Agreed! That place was so nasty.

I think calling it an "Italian Restaurant" is a bit of a stretch. Shitty greasy spoon that even Seattle-ites with our anti-gentrification mode couldn't stand.

I mean seriously - in a town that shuts down at 1am, it has to be pretty bad for us to dismiss its 24hour status as being moot.

Goodbye and good riddance.
