Why didn't I think of this sooner?

I'm sitting in my kitchen/computer room, drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette, and listening to Silkworm's Albini-recorded first post-Phelps, masterpiece Firewater. This record is basically a concept album - about being on a bender. Almost every song on this double album deals with some aspect of drunkeness, the causes for it, and the effects of it.
Heh. I can relate.
I've owned this album for almost six years, and it hasn't semed as poignant to me as it does now. Same with the Afghan Whigs' Gentleman. That record has been receiving some serious spin time in my CD player at work.
I think I've moved out of the depressing-music-that-reminds-me-of-my-ex-girlfriend phase, and into the these-motherfuckers-feel-my-pain-music phase. Zoinks.
Went out with Stacy tonight. First, we had a fabu dinner at the 5 Spot. Mmmm mmm good. Then it was off to ...ing for a drinky or four. For me. Stacy drank quasi-ginger ale. She's preggers, so no booze for her. Ziggy & Peter showed up and sat at the other end of the bar from us. Apparently Stacy & I got some evil stares from them when we were leaving. I didn't notice. Heh.
After a stop at the Harvard QFC, she dropped me off, and here I am, still awake far after I should be.
Gonna finish my brewski and go to bedski.
Thatnks Stace. I needed that. :)

Date: 2001-05-25 01:40 am (UTC)I can be pretty femme-y. I'll bring my PJs & bunny slippers and nail polish and we can talk about Matt Damon & Ben Affleck and who's cuter.
HA!
Unfortunately, I don't even own bunny slippers. Or nail polish.
In the 7th or 8th grade, instead of playing football with the guys, I'd stand by the fence and gossip with the goils. That is until all the girls started playing football too. So then I just sat by the fence and listened to my walkman and read Spin, when it was still all about college rock 'n' shet.
I'm all down with slumber parties.
Damn my XY chromosomes.
Well, I actually like being a boy. I just don't like other boys.
