If you get a chance, you must go see
The Corn Sisters

Neko Case + Carolyn Marks = good. god. damn.

I laughed, I cried, I watched Neko stuff a pair of panties thrown on the stage into her mouth and riff on the art of fellatio (in considerably coarser language). My. God. Oh, and the music was really good too. Their two distinctive voiced melded seamlessly. It became almost impossible to tell who was singing what; instead all you heard was one multi-faceted voice blossoming from the stage. Zoinks. Sooooo good.

I didn't catch the name of the opening act, but Bill Herzog from the Downer Trio was thumpin' the bull fiddle for 'em. They did sleepy time music.

Wow.

In other news: Watched the All-Star Game at Kalthoff Manor last night, and was treated to a nice home cooked meal courtesy of Stacy.

More in my next post.

So recently I noticed that I've been spending a lot of time in north Seattle - 'specially Green Lake, Fremont, and Wallingford. This means I've been spending more time off of the Hill. Capitol Hill, that is. I think that in the 8 or so years I've been bumming around Broadway, the sheen has finally worn off. It barely even feels like part of Seattle, and more like an extention of some prefab town done up for an MTV series.

I've been returning to my roots in a way, going back and spending time in the places that I messed around at when I was a kid. I realized I still like it up there, despite the development and yuppies. If I don't do the transnational move I've been considering, I might go back. Maybe not. I like living downtown. It's conveinient to everywhere. But I've found enough bars I like in Wallingford, and that, of course, is the ultimate factor for me in deciding where I'll live :)

I have a Sleater-Kinney song stuck in my head.

They are featured in this weeks issue of Time magazine, being called America's Best Rock Band.

Man, that's weird.

Some people are addicted to gambling, some to crack cocaine. Some people are addicted to sports. Me? I'm addicted to buying CDs. Here's my latest score:

Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On: 'Nuff said.
Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy: I've been looking for a used copy of this for months. I didn't find one. So I shelled out $15.99 for this fucker. What a racket.
various - O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack: this is just some good ol' Americana, this is. I could do without hearing "You Are My Sunshine" ever again, though :)

The girl that works in Transactions made the mistake of learnin' us some swear words in Farsi.

Multilingual Hell is breaking loose here.

I am going home now. Actually, I'm going to go get some food, and then go home.

I can feel my brain melting.

Ack.
