I received an email from my cousin Melissa in Dallas. It contained the family tree for my mom's side, beginning with my grandmother and grandfather. My grandpa was born in Co. Cavan in Ireland in 1888 (!), my grandmother in Drumshambo in 1892. This implies that their parents (my great-grandparents) lived through the Irish Potato Famine, among other things.
From my mom and 8 aunts and uncles, there came 52 kids (me, my sisters and brother, and our 1st cousins). If you count spouses among the grandkids, there are 81 of us. Yikes.
Here's to the Church's continued ban on birth control! :)
