I hate to admit it, but I sorta like the new Mary J. Blige song.

'Hateration' ranks right up there with Destiny's Child inventing 'automobill', meaning a car payment.

"Can you pay my automobiiiilllll..."

And the word 'booytlicious' brings out anger in me that I didn't know was there.

Come to think of it, maybe I just hate Destiny's Child and all their stupid non-words.

Yes... yes, I think that's it.

i don't know about automobill or hateration,
but
bootylicious is a valid word that's been used for years.
the thing is, in my experience,
booty=bad, a variation of "butt" eg-"butt ugly"
licious-containing the prefixes flavor.
therefore, bootylicious has not been positive.

i don't know,
it's early.

the english language has to grow though.

I seem to recall Snoop Dogg using the term "bootylicious", as in "those rhymes you was kickin' were quite bootylicious". This does imply a negative connotation.

that's the instance i was talking about.
since it was so popular, i thought it would've spread like that.
i think there are other times when booty is used in a negative context (i'm sure of it almost)
but i'm too tired to think of them.
i can remember it being used as "booty-wack" in some instances.

I have also heard "butt" used as a substitute, as in "his rhymes is butt" (Phife from ATCQ, I think).

You're absolutely right. Snoop did coin bootylicious.

Perhaps I'm looking for reasons to hate D's C?

Maybe you could hate them 'cuz they have a stupid name.

Not that R&B groups' names are any worse than rock band names (i.e. KoRn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, etc.)

Speaking of that, what's with the rampant substitution of the letter C with the letter K in the names of rap-metal bands?

C = K, in German. Gots to have some k's and an umlaut, if you wanna be hardcore.

Bootylicious = All good in my book.

(i.e. - Look at that bootylicious ho walkin' across the bar. My Jimmy would run so deep, it would put her ass to sleep.)

like the taste of ass in a good and a bad way.

i love the phrase "put her ass to sleep".

I sorta like that song by that British R & B dude, Craig David... I think it's called "Fill Me In." Do you know what I'm talking about? It's got a great beat; I actually really like that two-step groove that seems to be infecting a lot of new hip-hop and r & b music...

Can't say I'm familiar with the song...I know who that that Craig David fella is though...usually I can't handle male R&B singers for too long. The songs just get on my nerves, unless it's got a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it stand out.

Yeah, in my opinion, his song has that je ne sais quoi. It's definitely not typical. I don't usually like male r & b, either (like Maxwell and all that junk), but this song is good. You should download it sometime and see if you like it.

R. Kelly: no bueno
Isaac Hayes: muy bueno!

I do like stuff like Jill Scott and Erykah Badu...I think the music (otside of the singing)is just generally better...better songwriting.

I don't knwo who Jill Scott is, but I do like Erykah Badu a lot. She's a very talented lady. I like old blues and jazz a lot too, like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. And I am in complete accord with your opinions of R. Kelly and Isaac Hayes! :-)

I tend to go more for older R&B and soul singers (Isaac, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Al Green)...most of these new cats just don't have it.

And you can't beat Ella, or Billie.
