Returned from band practice not too long ago. Twas good; we managed to go all the way through our new set list, samples and all, with nary a break, 'cept for when the neighbor barged in to get his car keys or something.

damnit. the girlfriend's parents are moving to seattle this weekend for a month-long work thing. unfortunately, i am staying in memphis and will miss yr show. damnit. you should play memphis. we'll support you. rock will be delivered.

I'm all for playing Memphis (I'm halfway through watching Mystery Train, so I'm kinda on a Memphis kick anyway), but convincing our other geetarist to go might be a trick. He just did a 2 year stint in Knoxville and I think he's still a little shell shocked.

We'll tour someday. And you guys should come up here too. Your offer would be reciprocated.

dude, just tell him Memphis isn't nearly half as bad as Knoxville...i live there for almost a year myself...sure it's the same state, but it's two opposite corners of a very long state...like about a 6 hr drive away...(of course, i doubt that news would make him wanna jump up and down and come to Memphis, but eh...yea...) though i would love to go to Seattle...i love travelling anywhere...although playing shows here at all would be a nice improvement...

Lessee...1992...I would have been either a sophomore or junior in high school, depending on what time of year it was...in the midst of the International Grunge Explosion^™...that's about the time that Singles came out, I think. What a fucking shitstorm that created :) Would have been a hell of a time to visit, methinks...

summer '92: heh, i was thirteen, so any music interest would have been more in the boo-scary goth vein rather than the grunge rawk. i'm trying to think of spooktacular seattle bands, but the only one coming to mind is black atmosphere, and, truth be told, i still don't mind them too much (though i don't know if they're still together...). i want to go back there and do some proper record shopping...

Black Atmosphere? Yowza...those guys used to hang out at the same coffee shop (ironically named Bauhaus Books & Coffee) as me and all my peoples...man, those fellas were ancient looking :) They're still around in some form, I think.

yeah, in pictures i saw of them, they looked pretty old. i think there was a black guy in the band, which i thought was cool just because you don't see that too often. black souls, yes. black guys, pretty rare. *shrugs*

i dig the new user icon. i just framed this promo poster for that record to hang up in my livingroom.
