These are the musical acts I'd like to see get knocked off. Rubbed out. Sent to sleep with the fishes. Sent for a long ride on the short bus.

I chose these folks based not on their popularity per se, but on what I perceive to be their level of self-importance in the popular music arena. I can't take any of these jackasses seriously, and their "art" is anything but.

Only four. In no particular order:

1) Aerosmith
2) Red Hot Chili Peppers
3) Metallica
4) U2

Even though none of these "artists" have created anything of relevance in years (or in Aerosmith's case, decades), they remain at the top of the charts. While hacks like Creed and Limp Bizkit piss me off, I know it's only a matter of time before their fifteen minutes will end and they'll be replaced, like turds from Hydra's ass, with something equally insulting.

It's these overrated artists who have milked the years pimping themselves on name value and nostalgia that really need to disappear. Roar! Too many fucking dinosaurs in the charts. Too much buzz-space being wasted that could better suit something fresher... Something somewhat vital.

don't get me wrong--i have no opinion whatsoever about them since i don't listen to the radio and my 11yo, who keeps me abreast of the more craptacular top 40, likes the dancy and girl rock hitz better than boy stuff. but what is it about them exactly that engenders such hatred?

my boyfriend goes spastic anytime they're mentioned [common threads being "they're christian", "they ripped off pearl jam", but i'm not positive those are the reasons he gets so angry about them] and i've heard similar reactions from other people, but it doesn't seem to be anything specific other than "they suck". i've tried asking the boy but he gets so filled with vitriol he can barely speak coherently.

They just exude suckiness. I think part of it is the posturing (which lots of rock bands could be accused of) - they try so hard to be sincere. Maybe they think they are, but I don't buy it. Maybe it's because they're from Florida. What has Florida given us? The 2 Live Crew, Limp Bizkit, and Creed. Not a great track record. Musically, their music consists of bonehead cock rock riffs and vapid, "spiritual" vocals. Even though rock & roll is all about ripping off those who came before you, bands (like Creed) that play repackaged grunge (read: Pearl Jam) and front like they;re original are bothersome.

i agree with you here. any of those newer rock bands with the "sincere" crooning pearl jam-ish vocals or with guys rapping should be exterminated. and missy elliot. jesus god, i despise her. timbaland can stay, though.
