Long time no see...

OK. So I moved to Greenwood. I now live in what was once probably a swinging space-age batchelor pad circa 1965. Well, maybe not "batchelor", as it's actually a mother-in-law unit in the backyard of a house. The ceilings are low through half of it (I have to crouch a little in the shower, and even to get into the bathroom. It's got orange shag carpet (which has turned to burnt umber with the years), and that sparkly textured crap on the ceiling. It came partially furnished, which is sorta nice seeing as how I got rid of most of my furniture the last time I moved. It also came with all utilities included in the rent, plus cable and a washer and dryer.

And spiders.

I found a huge one in the shower as I was getting out of the shower. Eeek.

Even though I'm not that far away from anything, psychologically it feels far away. It only takes me four minutes to walk to the grocery store, but I have to walk through blocks of houses in various states of disrepair, and corner markets that stock more MD 20/20 and Thunderbird than juice or milk. There aren't really any sidewalks, which for a pedestrian, can be hazardous, especially at night. But that's ok. I'll deal.

I hear you man. There are tons of spiders in Greenwood. And yeah, no sidewalks. But I bet it's cheaper, eh? Good to have you, neighbor.

Likewise. And I had never seen that particular type of spider before. Does Greenwood have its own breed?

You know you can come over any time, right? We have free pay per view! Last night we had an impromptu "family" dinner. Do you want in on things like that? We can call you...;)

You must leave the dead spiders out as a warning to the others, soon they will get the message and leave. This is how I rid my apartment of spiders.

Current fav mp3 track Grey Sky although El Paso is interesting in a retro-refit sorta way.

it's still a swinging space-age bachelor pad. the unpredictable ceilings and floors just give it character, and the bathroom layout kicks ass. the headboard on yer bed is a little creepy though.
and huzza for skylights!
