It's Super Bowl Sunday. Since my job is to sell women's clothing, I have a feeling that I may be fielding a number of calls from Super Bowl refugees.

I've heard that more women are beaten, abused, and raped on Super Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the year. That's pretty fucked. It'd be unfair to characterize (male) football fans as abusers, but what the hell is going on here? Does anyone know anything about this?

I've heard this from my mother, who worked at a battered women's shelter for years. I figure thats about as good as a claim you can get.
