I acknowledge that I fully deserve the Snoop icon. ;p
As an aside: when I was very young and saw the first "Superman" movie in the theaters...you know that scene where he goes to Lois Lane's apartment in his Superman guise and she hopes to interview him on their "date?" She asks him a battery of questions, including: "What colour underwear am I wearing?" and "Do you have a nickname?" After a brief pause, he answers: "Pink." Somehow, in my childhood mind, I determined that, therefore, Superman's nickname was "Pink."
It took me several years (read: something like 20) to realize that he'd actually been answering the first question.
I think a more appropriate response might be: Magenta.
The only other thing I'd suggest (since it's "Other People Get To Have Opinions About Your LJ Spread Day") is: whatever font you've got going on in light pink right now? Change it to somethink dark (and therefore more visible). Dark green might do the trick?
Bear in mind, by the way, that if you need somethin' done (like an imbedded snazzy graphic like mine or somesuch)*, I can probably help you figure it out/do it for ya if you bat your eyelashes and ask all nice-like. Given, LJ is different code than I'm used to, but I can code me some mean html - which leads me to believe that I can, with some effort, figure most things of this nature out.

Also: I don't think it's 'magenta'. However, the glare screen on my monitor makes everything darker. It still ain't pink though.
Pink Returns?
Images and colours are darker on IBM/Windoze machines than on Macs - thus, at home, this background is a very startling magenta. ;)

And another. (http://www.devguru.com/Technologies/html/quickref/color_chart.html)
Maybe a better one. (http://www.december.com/html/spec/color2.html)
But now that I think of it...are you using hex or a preordained lj colour array?

Aren't they, though...? ;)
There's even a green called "Starbucks" (#006633). -rolls eyes-
