- bass guitar:
The oft-maligned, misunderstood, redheaded stepchild of the rock & roll universe. I became interested in playing bass after seeing the video for "Cult Of Personality" by Living Colour. I thought Muzz Skillings looked so cool (their propensity for sporting Day-Glo clothing excepted. It was 1989 for fuck's sake.) I didn't start playing in earnest until the 11th grade, and then I was limited to playing the "Iron Man" riff over and over. Now, 12 years later, people actually want me to play bass on their records. Huh. - courvoisier:
Started drinking it as a joke. Reverse slumming. Now I actually like it (in a brandy snifter with a floater of Grand Marnier). - evil pits of lions:
Where most people should be thrown into. Ingeniously coined bymurmur.
- gute zeiten!:
German for "good times!" I don't know that this phrase actually exists in German, though I imagine that if you said it, they'd know what you meant. - irish whiskey:
Uisge beatha, aqua vitae, water of life, the lifeblood of my people. I prefer Bushmills to Jameson, a preference considered heretical in my nominally Catholic family. However, since Pernod at one point owned both distilleries, it's all French whiskey. Slainte! - mark ryden:
I'm not a big art person, meaning I don't know the finer points of visual art the way I know them in music, or to a lesser extent, film. I just look at a given piece and go, "Gee, I like that" or "Ehh. Not so much." Mark Ryden is one of those artists that more often than not, I look at and go "I like that." - non-republicans:
Republicans do not represent me. And I am allergic to them. - recovering catholics:
A humorous way to describe what I am. Catholicism informed my upbringing, guilt being the fundament and the bedrock and the foundation of my early years. This is something I'm still fighting. - spelling:
I'm good with words. Not great. Good. Same goes for spelling. I'm by no means perfect, but I'm above average. Correct spelling is important. As far as I know, there's no correlation between intelligence and spelling ability, but having the ability to spell well imparts the appearance of intelligence. This is not a bad thing. - thumpin' the bull fiddle:
Bull fiddle being an old term for the upright bass, which I don't actually play very well at all, due mainly to lack of opportunity to practice on one. They're hard to play, man!
