How About Prince vs. Prince Paul?

Aww shit...if any of y'all have this Doves disc, listen closely on track 3 at about 3:40 into the song...there's a answering machine voice in the left channel...it was sampled from 3rd Bass' first record ("MC Disagree" was the track, I believe). Kooky.
Speaking of 3rd Bass, they used all sorts of weird samples themselves (prolly cuz Prince Paul was on board in those days). They borrowed bits from Tom Waits, Blue Oyster Cult, Depeche Mode, Dave Brubeck, Aretha Franklin, and Peter Gabriel, among others. Their stuff is a good snapshot of Prince Paul's earlier work (along with his stints with De La Soul, and especially Stetsasonic).
FYI: Another Prince Paul protege, MC Paul Barman, appears on the new Atom & His Package record. The worlds of dorkcore rock & hip-hop are colliding!
