I just saw a big jumbo jet flying so low that I thought for sure that it was going to recreate September 11 this cold Thursday morning. I looked up and could make out details about the belly of the plane. It banked at an odd angle, kind of like when a car skids on ice - the vehicle is pointed one direction, but is sliding another.

I haven't heard any big booms. Yet.

thats pretty common ed actually - i mean maybe not the altitude, but whats called "yawing" - it's done by pressing on the foot pedals - push on the left pedal and the plane yaws to the left, press on the right pedal and the plane yaws to the right - it's to keep the nose of the plane into the wind to maintain altitude while going at a slower speed and maintain course - otherwise they'd have to speed up to maintain altitude. most planes land at a yawed angle and most of them fly that way.

what it's doing at that altitude i don't know, but thought i'd drop the FYI.

I didn't think that the yawing was so weird - it's just that I hadn't seen it so close...it just looked weird. It was low. Waaaay low.
