Oh duh. It was a sarcastic remark. I wasn't reading The Stranger, so I wasn't prepared.

I'm not so sure...the tenor of the review was that the "realer" alternative for those seeking out the gore/grind/crust mëtäl could be found in Asschapel, and that the author really does consider GWAR mainstream. They have made a video, thereby negating their position as bearers of the underground grossout metal standard.
