it was kind of weird b/c our place was oil heated. essentially the oil tank was full when we got there and we had to make sure it was full when we left. i won't even tell you how much it cost to fill that sucker.
it's the price you pay for the luxury of a warm home laying in wait for you when you stumble in outta the cold. you could just live like sonya, and keep yourself warm by shivering instead.
how big's your place though? This (I think) is primarily to heat my living room, as I never turn on the heat in my bedroom. So lights and heat for my 1 bedroom apartment = a lotta dough :)
Feh. I'm going to go live in a Quonset hut in the forest.
Hmm...do you think maybe having the heat off in the bedroom is actually less efficient? Maybe the living room heater has to work twice as hard to keep the place warm?
Holy hell, ok...I think efficiency-wise, yours might be worse! My condo is a little over 1050 sf, and I always crank the bedroom heat...I should live in the tropics!!
I bought an electric blanket AND have been making fires in the living room, and thought that would help, but so far, NOPE.
I guess we both need to expand our sweatshirt and blanket collection. No, I like your hut idea better. :)
