That's fucking annoying. First of all, the noose was put there by Iraqi's trying to pull the statue over. The marines finally helped them do so. Yes, the Marine put an American flag over Saddam's face, which was stupid, but it was also taken off about two minute later, and replaced with an Iraqi flag.
As per the last persons reply. The soldier put the US flag on the statues' head, but was ordered to take it down by his commander, as ALL of the armed forces have been told not to place American flags anywhere, in any cities or towns or installations in order to instill a sense of liberation, not occupation. The Iraqi's then handed the soldiers a PRE-90's IRAQ flag without the additional words written in the middle "God is Great", what is that, "Allah *U Akhbar?"
