Friday: dinner and drinks with [livejournal.com profile] beddove, later to be joined by the inimitable [livejournal.com profile] beatnikside and [livejournal.com profile] bohunk (and the friend who's name I've forgotten again, dammit) at the People's Pub. I deemed it to be Chemistry Set night at the People's, which called for drink experiments (i.e. Grasshoppers, Redheaded Sluts, and chilled Tuaca). Shit dog, I'm a whiskey drinker , so don't talk to me about pansy cocktails.

Saturday: Swung by Hazelwood and chatted with Drew, Keith, and Cody for a bit. Wended my way down the Ave (Ballard Ave, that is) to Hattie's, where I got into a conversation with a random guy about language families and German grammar. Later Dan Cowan insisted I see Freakwater at the Tractor, and who was I to say no? Got in for free, and got a free beer out of it. Can't say that I actually cared for Freakwater that much, but I also wasn't much in the mood for that high lonesome sound. The band itself was quite good.

Sunday: overslept, and then worked for 10 hours.

Sounds like a good weekend, on balance. Where are you at with the recording projects now?

ASOW: drums and half the bass done. We have three days booked at the end of the month to try to get all the guitars and vocals and other shit done.

KNS: drums and bass done (save for some tweaking - I plan on re-amping some of my tracks through Jack's Bassman to give 'em some fur). Not sure when we're going back to start work again. Either this month or next. We have six or seven songs so far, but we want to get some more material together so we have enough for a full-length, plus some b-sides and whatnot.

Cushlamochree... I dread having to work like that. With the Bisi ep, we did drums, guitars and bass all together (amps in separate rooms & all) and only had to go back for trouble spots on this or that bass or guitar track, then wrapped up leads and vocals. That stuff adds up...

Indeed it does. Jack works quick though, so we're able to pack a lot into the time we have.

I just checked out Bisi's website. His studio looks like it's in a cave or an adobe hut or something :)

It's very cavelike. It's an industrial space just southwest of Park Slope, and he's been there something like 25 years, so his rent must be absurdly low.
