Last night, after I left Aurafice, I wandered up to Broadway and got sucked into Playback (formerly Disc Go Round), where I made further expenditures to bolster my music collection. My purchases were as follows:

Doves - Lost Souls: I guess they had an MTV hit or something. I just remember hearing this at Orpheum last winter and going "Hey, that's pretty cool..." It took me this long to find a used copy of it.

Erykah Badu - Baduizm: On & on & on & on...

various - SoleSides Greatest Bumps: More sonic goodies from DJ Shadow & his little crate digging pals

Bjork - Selmasongs: I don't really have to say anything about this one.

I forgot to mention that the other night before the Richard Buckner show, a venture was made into Bop Street Records (which may have one of the finest vinyl collections in town). I picked up these goodies:

various - The John Peel Sub Pop Collection 1989-1993: Mudhoney, Pond, Codeine, Tad...pretty bitchin'.

Primus - Pork Soda: 'Cuz sometimes the bass dork in me just has to listen to "My Name Is Mud" again.

I also picked up ancient vinyl from Steve Fisk, and a realllllly old Seattle glam rock band named Rail. Rumor has it that one of my sisters dated someone in this band circa 1983. About 4 or so years ago, I was watching some show on public access, and lo and behold, on the program was Rail, playing at Jimmy Z's in fucking Everett (Ice T just played there on Friday, I think). They looked old, way past their prime, but also looked to be having fun. Eeek, I say. Eeek.

But I digress. After making my purchases, i continued up Broadway, where I stumbled upon Brian, Damon, and Cecilia. I hopped in the car with them and headed up to Kalthoff Manor for some Thai food and good company. From there, D and I found ourselves at the medeval themed Canterbury up on 15th for a QFC work party thingy. I pretty much just sat back, nursed my beer, and watched the kookiness commence. Much of the conversations at the table revolved around sex and drinking. At one point, a girl pulled out some slides from her purse. The slides were of her and a person (who had just left this little gathering) performing a sex act involving...er well, yeah, I'm not going to go into it. We'll just say that it was graphic. I think she implied that it was supposed to be art. Er, whatevs.

OK. Back to work.

While we're listing good record stores, Easy St. in West Seattle would be worth checking, too.

I'm at the library, about to run out of computer time. Call me at home, if ya want, in about an hour.
